Afore is hiring an Investment Principal

Afore Capital is an early stage venture capital firm that invests in technology companies. We focus on the pre seed stage or the invention phase of a tech startup and we invest a large check, up to $2M to support the company, pre-everything. We were founded in 2016, and today we manage $300M+ in AUM across three funds. Our portfolio companies have gone on to raise over $2B after us for a collective market cap of $11B.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Investor to join our team of five. The Investor will be responsible for identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, making investment recommendations, and eventually writing checks on behalf of the fund. We are generalists at heart and our investments span multiple B2B and B2C sectors.

Responsibilities:
• You will have a passion and affinity for extremely early stage founders or investment deal sources
• You will have a high level of autonomy and ownership as you will independently spearhead sourcing and structure full diligence processes and be asked to make decisions
• You well spend the majority of your time on sourcing projects, deepening your network, thesis-building, investment research, and work with portfolio companies. This will be your major.
• You will also spend a part of your time on a strategic, firm-wide project that you will choose. This will be your minor.
• You will have the opportunity to work with the founders and the full Afore team and build relationships with 80+ portfolio company founders and teams.
• You will meet and learn from some of the best entrepreneurs in the business.
• You will represent Afore publicly at events, conferences and online

Qualifications:
• At least 2-5 years of experience as a founder or in venture capital, startup operating roles, angel investing or consulting
• A track record of success in angel investing or early stage VC investing
• Strong network or demonstrated ability to build a network of potential seed stage founders
• You must have a high level of professionalism, maturity, and honesty with superior attention to detail, as well as the ability and desire to manage multiple tasks and projects
• You are entrepreneurial, self-directed, intellectually curious and have a well-rounded skillset
• You are San Francisco based or are willing to relocate
